Professional severe storm meteorologists know an 'isolated' tornado means forecast weather conditions may produce tornados but they would be few and far between. The term 'isolated' suggests nothing about a tornado's severity or intensity.

In terms of probability ...'isolated' means no more than 10% of the forecast area during the 12 hour forecast period.

The prospect of 'isolated' tornadoes suggests there is little .. if any chance of a tornado watch being issued for Houston.

Isolated tornado means that a tornado or two could occur in the area.

The term is used when a widespread or significant tornado event will not occur but conditions could be favorable for one or a few tornadoes to briefly spin up.
