My county is under a tornado watch until 8am and flood warning until 1pm. We're currently having a very severe thunderstorm. Is it possible school will be delayed or canceled? My school is basically in a bowl so all the rain water goes straight to the school because of very poor drainage soooo just wondering. thank you.

That's up to the superintendent for your area; he or she may feel it is necessary to call for a delay or cancellation. There have been over 4" of rain already in central AL, and anywhere from 2-6" in portions of SE MS and AL depending on where you are from yesterday evening until now. There have been 9 tornado reports overnight all just for one area, Covington County, MS. There was briefly a tornado warning issued SE of Montgomery, AL; but it's no longer active. The parameters look more inviting for tornadoes in the southern portions of MS and AL and maybe the FL panhandle later in the morning, but be alert that the NWS has issued a tornado watch for an area that encompasses S MS, AL, W FL panhandle, and SE LA. I think the flooding alone could be cause delays for you, but I'm not familiar with how your city reacts to these events. Stay safe.

School can be cancelled anytime officials think there's a risk to the safety of students.

In most cases school remains open unless the roads are flooded

I really think you should research this on your own, go to your county's rules/regulations, as well check your school's policies on how they handle a severe weather event.

All any of us can do is speculate, but not give u concrete answers.
