Maybe over longer periods of time. But for one snow system and one 24-hour period, that was a massive amount of snow. Something like 27 inches in Central Park?

This was the greatest amount of snow that fell in a 24 hour period, since records began, back into the 1800's. So there was most likely a storm which produced more than this at some point in history, but was not recorded by modern weather instruments. Obviously other storms also produced greater amounts over a period of days as well, but this is still a significant amount of snow to fall so close to the moderating waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and also the influence of the heat that is created by the city itself.
