So I hear about everything that happened within the Oklahoma tornado and I am still not understanding something. First off, I am from New Jersey so this is how far the story has stretched. But anyway, in the past, I have watch the news, and occasionally they announce a tornado that has occurred, they talk about it for less than 60 seconds, and then they move to the next headline. But all of a sudden, the oklahoma tornado has become spotlight and now it is continuously talked about. Im not saying I don't care, but I wanted to know what is the difference between this tornado compared to any others that have happened in the past? Why are people now taking action to help the surviving victims?

The tornado that hit Moore Oklahoma was an EF5. An EF5 is the highest classification for tornadoes. The estimated wind speeds of the tornado were around 210mph. This is not the frist devestating tornado Moore Oklahoma has seen. There was an F5 tornado with wind speeds around 300mph back in 1999 and then a F4 tornado in 2003.

This is making news because it is one city that has been bombarded by large destructive tornadoes. People all around that have hearts are helping Moore in many ways.

TV news air time seems to be based largely on how much death and destruction were involved, and whether children were in danger. Groups like the Red Cross and churches always help tornado victims, even if the tornado was small. They just don't usually get much recognition.

Because it is one of the biggest tornadoes in history. It reduced the town of Moore and Newcastle to the look of a nuclear blast. A bunch of people died including like 20 kids.
