I understand that we have to keep safe and our plans have been cancelled because we were going to go to the American Museum of Natural History tomorrow and now it's closed. As are the subway's and the broadway shows, so what do we do? I understand there might be water shortages and power cuts so being as we have nowhere to go, will we be stuck in a hotel room? This sucks, it's my Mum's first time in NY and our weekend is going to be hell boring. Do all the shops tend to close or can we get food throughout? (We don't have a fridge.)

Definitely stay inside, this is the first hurricane to hit the east coast this bad in 50 years. Yes, it will be a weak category 2, category 1, but this is still dangerous. Coastal areas are being evacuated, and people will get killed if they are going outside near the coast, it is going to be up to 100 mph winds and torrential downpours, it's a hurricane for pete's sake!

Sorry your weekend got ruined, but it's better to stay in the hotel room and be safe from flash floods and damaging winds than be hurt outside.

The command WASN"T each sailor be evacuated on submarines, it might have been purely those stationed on subs out of Norfolk and Groton that had to record in by fact the subs have been leaving. purely like a number of workers assigned to ships have been ordered on board and that they left to circulate out to sea. They try this every time there's a hurricane/hurricane with ships/subs by fact there is extra harm brought about to the docks/piers on the backside. people who're on SHORE which ability no longer assigned to a deliver or a submarine would have been instructed to evacuate the section if the CO deemed it needed. they might have then gotten in vehicles and pushed to everywhere. they are high-quality whilst they are out to sea despite if on deliver or sub. Irene is now purely a Cat a million, via the time it receives up there that's going to likely be much less likely. that's no longer the 1st hurricane to hit the section.

Go to the beach, enjoy the breeze. Stand outside and laugh at the locals who have never witnessed a hurricane before and think it's going to destroy the city.

Watch out for the occasional flying tree branch.
