As most have answered, the WX channel is as accurate as any of the other WX broadcasts on TV and radio. They all use the same data sources. [See source.]
The major issue I have with the WX channel is its coverage and timeliness. Living on the Pacific Coast, I've been repeatedly frustrated by the fact that the WX channel spends an inordinate amount of its attention on areas east of the Mississippi. On more than one occasion, I have waited over thirty minutes in vain to get the temperatures or precipitation forecasts in and around California. That is not acceptable when time is of the essence.
So I've turned to the desktop. There are lots of weather links on the Internet, and they can be made to give forecasts and current conditions of just about anywhere in the world on demand.
Bottom line, the WX channel is OK if you've got time to spare or you want just an overview; otherwise, go to the web.

The weather forecast is pnly as accurate as the information that has been provide and the person that interprets these conditions. Micro-weather systems are hard to take into consideration due to the number of variables from area to area. A person has a general knowledge of weather and adequate surface maps may give a forecast equal or better than what an expert will provide given his vast array of resources to work with.

As accurate as any other science. Science is based on observation and processing. Not to mention Meteorology is a science still in its young stages. So, when the weatherman say " its gonna sunny whole day" it only mean "its has a very high 'chance' of being predominantly sunny. It is not gonna be sunny 100%. An occasional cloud may arise and disappear :P)

just as accurate as any other news weather.. they compile information taken from equipment and they make an educated guess

It's as accurate as you can get considering the "local forecast" is generated by a computer forecast model.

not that accurate. i lived in colorado and the town I was living in never got any snow, when all day long they said it would.

Where i live in the Southeast US they cant seem to ever get it right, Toady was supposed to be sunny, but all i see is more clouds and rain
